Classic Cars - Buick's History

The Buick muscle cars known as the GS 400, and the mighty GSX were known as "Gentleman's Cars". Buicks proved high performing in the sixties, and early part of the seventies. Any classic Buick fan will tell you that Buick's marketing strategy was below the Cadillac. Buicks were a noble breed, and often referred to as cars a doctor would be driving. Buicks birth into the muscle car industry happened in 1965.

Buick offered Gran Sport options for the Wildcat, and the Riviera. These vehicles were splendid manly-type cars, but not your classic muscle machine. This version changed drastically with the birth of the Buick Skylark that shared its design with the Tempest that Pontiac used for the foundation of the popular GTO. The company came out with a mid-sized sedan with mid-sized performance in the middle eighties with the GNX, and the Grand National that contained V-6 engines.

Before the Electra 225, the Limited, and the Roadmaster was the "Big Boys" of Buick's legendary lineup. In 1959, these cars were renamed the Electra. Shelby Cobra

If you're a good mechanic you should look toward a car that may need more mechanical work then body repair, or electrical work. Keep in mind that you will enjoy the project a lot more if the car leans more toward your skill set.

I'm by no means saying that you can't learn all of the processes that you need to know to perform a car restoration. What I am saying is this, if you are able to get a lot of the work done by yourself it will build your confidence and you will have more fun.

If the parts are readily available for the car that you choose to restore the project will flow a lot smoother. Chevy Knows Muscle Cars

Chevy has a long established history of creating cars that not only looked fantastic but proved durable and let us face it, classic Chevy cars turned and still turn people's heads. I want all classic Chevy fans to join me as I travel down memory lane in giving these classic cars their due.

Do you remember the 67 Camaro? This car was Chevy's answer to the Ford Mustang. The engine in the SS model was 350 V-8 that produced three-hundred horsepower. The car lasted through five generations of design upgrades. Sadly, production ceased in 2002 but was reintroduced to Chevy fans in 2010 and was awarded the Design of the Year Award. The Z28 was produced and designed for racing enthusiasts and competed in the Trans-Am series.

One vehicle that still turns heads to all who see it is the El Camino. Originally, this car was viewed as a small SUV (small utility vehicle). No one ever thought this car would join the ranks of "Muscle Cars." What made this car so unique is that back in 1966 the 396 engine was offered which was also available with the Chevelle. The Super Sport Edition was equipped with a Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission and a 350 V-8 that allowed this Muscle Car to run the quarter mile in 14 seconds.

One vehicle that fought hard to park beside the Classic Muscle Cars is the Chevy Nova. This car was not known for fashion but rather was known for its compact form, speed and light-weight. The design that was given to the Nova was originally planned for what was called The Chevy II. The 64 models contained a V-8 engine that was 195 horsepower, 2-barrel 283.

If you grew up in the fifties, you might not remember the Bel Air. Why is this you might be wondering? The answer proves straightforward, the Bel Air was not as popular as Chevy imagined or hoped in the fifties. Popularity gained for this car in the sixties with the help of the Beach Boys hit "409".

Lamborghini Miura

Introduction
The founder of Lamborghini group was Ferrucio Lamborghini. The main technical difference was the separate engine and gearbox lubrication systems. This change allowed using the appropriate types of oil for the gearbox and the engine. This also relieved concerns that metal shavings from the gearbox could travel into the engine and be the reason of serious breakdowns. Due to the improved carburettors the car gained additional 15 HP (11 kW) and had 385 HP (283 kW) in total. Though Miura SV is mostly improved between all versions of Miura in terms of handling, it was slightly slower because of increased weight (due to the separate lubrication system, wider wheels, etc.).

148 SV models were built in total. First 52 units of them had a common engine and gearbox lubrication system.

Miura SV/J

Lamborghini Company also released the limited Miura SV/J version. It had improved engine, renewed suspension, some different interior and design details. Only 5 Miuras SV/J were manufactured in total. One of the owners of such car was an actor Nicolas Cage. He bought Miura SV/J at the auction in 1997 for 490 000 $. This price was the model's highest ever price sold in an auction.

Miura SVJ Spider

Topless Miuras, named Lamborghini Miura SVJ Spider also exist in the world. As it was a concept model, other than private modifications, there are only two "open" Miuras produced. One of them was presented on the Bertone's stand at Bruxelles in 1969, and other example was shown on the Lamborghini stand at the Geneva Motor show in 1981. Serial production of Miura SVJ Spider was not undertaken.

Design and interior of Miura
First sketches of Miura were made by Giorgetto Guigiaro, when he worked at Bertone Design Company. When he left Bertone, Marcello Gandini continued the design works. Finally the owner of company, Nuccio Bertone did the i's and crossed the t's before submitting final design to Lamborghini. The engineers of Lamborghini didn't make to install the engine in it's compartment, therefore the car exposed in Motor Show was without it. In order this "absence"would not be revealed, the hood was kept locked firmly;

- Miura is named as a first "supercar". This term was used by automotive writer LJK Setright for the first time, when he found Miura as something with exotic looks, advanced design and incredible performance. The Miura was branded as a "supercar"also because of its engine position. This Lamborghini is the first serial road car, having mid-engined construction.

- The tests showed that Miura managed to reach 272 km/h top speed. With respect to this fact, Miura was titled as the fastest car in the world by 1969, when Ferrari introduced Daytona 365GTB/4 model;

- Lack of good drainage in the original design influenced rust problems, which are seen on pretty much all Miuras except for those that have undergone a recent restoration;

- In the beginning it was planned to produce 30 units of Miura, but the demand after the Geneva Motor Show dictated the other figures. No more Miuras were built only because of the limited capability of Lamborghini factory;

- In April of 1972 Ferruccio sold off his controlling shares of "Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini SAS" company, probably because he achieved all his aims with the Miura.

Final word

The Open type was a common injecting method used in earlier days. In an injection system, fuel from the tank goes to the combustion chamber, via a pump. During the injection, the actual combustion starts when the fuel pressure is more than the pressure inside the combustion chamber. Such system is totally dependent on the diameter and length of the delivery pipe, which often leads to problems like pre-ignition and after burning. So today, cars equip with closed type injector to overcome the disadvantages of the open type.

Close Injector:

In this type, the hydrostatic pressure is also considered for the opening and closing of the nozzle. There is a spring in the valve, which opens and closes according to the hydrostatic pressure. When the hydrostatic pressure, available at the valve is greater than the spring force, the valve opens. Opening of the valve also opens the passage to the nozzle. When the value of the hydrostatic pressure goes below some value, valve closes again and there is no fuel supply to the combustion chamber.

Nowadays, the close type also implements the sensors, which can react rapidly to changing inputs. It is also very sensitive to sudden acceleration and deceleration of the throttle. This increases the power output and performance of the engine, as well as provides economical savings. Due to these advantages, close type are widely used injectors nowadays.

This company was known for their hot engines and winning races on the track. In 1967, the first muscle-imaged collection was placed in the GTX. This Satellite-based car stood tall with a 375 bhp 440 cid V-8 engine and only offered the Hemi as the engine option. This car was the first of its kind in midsized cars to display sport-up hood scoops, bucket seats, exciting emblems, large wheels and redline tires. This car was the epitome of Muscle Cars.

Plymouth proved their innovation with the Valiant-based Barracuda in 1964. The first cars of this type were strong performers. The 1965 Barracuda contained balanced handling with a 235 bhp 273 cid lifter V-8 engine. In 1967, the company went all out with offering a 383 cid big-block to the options. In 1969, the "Cuda" had a 440 cid V-8 engine.

In the early seventies, the Hemi Cuda proved arduous, and remains a highly-desired choice among Muscle Car enthusiasts. The most sought after version of the car is the seventy-version with the spoilered, and striped exterior. The Cuda and Duster were laid to rest in 1975 and was nothing but a memory when the division that produced the cars closed for good in 2001.

The Satellite was introduced in 1965 as part of the Belvedere production line. This car proved strong in sales until 1967. With the decline in sales, it was converted to a middle of the line priced model with the GTX. The Fury name was then transferred to Plymouth's middle-sized models in 1975. Plymouth then allowed the Satellite name to quietly disappear.

Plymouth at one point decided to gussy up the Valiant Scamp calling it a Brougham and consumers went totally nuts over the car with purchasing over 127,000 of them. The company admits that this car was never a high-performing car, but they delight in the memories of its popularity at one time in history.

In 1997, the Prowler was born (later becoming Chrysler Prowler). This car was also built in 1999 and 2002. The first version could reach 62 miles an hour in 7.2 seconds. The top-speed of this model was 118 miles per hour. The 1999 and 2002 model could reach 62 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds with a top-speed of 126 miles per hour. The 2001 and 2002 models were sold as Chrysler Prowler's, but DaimlerChrysler strategically marketed the car as a Plymouth in Canada for the 2000 models with this car being the last Plymouth ever sold in Canada.

Classic Plymouth car fans enjoy finding these muscle cars for restoration, or if they have the money, and luck, in mint condition. Plymouth Muscle Cars is still an obsession with the sport car enthusiasts. History of Mercedes Benz: The 300SEL 6.3

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 (1967 - 1972)

The 300SEL 6.3 was a hit from the day it was first revealed in summer 1966. And it was not long term strategic planning, which was behind its introduction at the end of 1967. It was actually frustration among some Daimler-Benz engineers that journalists, in the mid 1960s, saw their employer just as a manufacturer of cars for farmers, executives and retirees. As there was no initial budget for this new Benz, it was developed without the knowledge of top brass. It was a mixture of the 600, from whom it received the power plant and the 300SEL, the donor of the body and frame. Both these vehicles were regarded as great cars, but the 600 was for most European customers (and governments) too big and the 300SEL not powerful enough for its price tag.

Although the sales department did initially not believe in a commercial success, the 300SEL 6.3 filled the niche it had created, most successfully. It was not as big as the 600 and it was not as slow as the 300SEL either. Driving the 6.3 meant to enter a different world and it was no wonder that magazines such as Road&Track saw in it simply the best car in the world.

With 250 hp at 4,000 rpm, a compression ratio of 1:9.0 and a max. torque of 51 mkp (368.9 ft-lbs) at just 2,800 rpm, the engine offered plenty of grunt to be content with. Average fuel consumption was around 21 l/100km (11.2 m/g), but most journalists easily managed to bring that figure to some 30 l/100km (7.8 m/g). Despite its dry weight of 1,830 kg (4,000 lbs), it could accelerate in 7.4 seconds from 0-100 km/h (faster than a Porsche 911S and a Ferrari 330GTC) and it achieved a top speed of 121 km/h (137 m/h).

The car's interior was lavishly appointed for a Mercedes-Benz at that time. It offered power windows, vacuum-controlled central locks, a rev counter and velours upholstery. leather seats were optional. The Benz offered a surprisingly smooth operation over a wide rev band and would not bother to cruise at high speeds for hours, if your wallet was up to it. The wood on the dashboard and window surrounds was now burr walnut and other wood veneer options such as macassar ebony could be ordered. It had a limited slip differential and at the front US-style headlights with halogen bulbs. These headlights quickly became synonymous with the 6.3, as they offered plenty of prestige on a German autobahn.

In Germany the 300SEL 6.3 was offered at 39,160 DM ($9,790.-), which was definitely not cheap. While the car cost $15,120.- in the US, it was even more expensive in the UK. It cost almost 7,700.- GBP ($18,500.- ), once the taxes had been factored in. But compared to a Maserati Quattroporte or even a Bentley T, that price looked reasonable again, even when options such as leather and sunroof had been added. The Jaguar XJ12 was no competitor, as it was only introduced in 1972. In 1971 the 6.3 was replaced in North America first with the 3.5 l and one year later the 4.5 l. In Europe and the rest of the world, it was sold till 1972. Despite initial fears, the 6.3 proved to be remarkably successful, as 6,526 cars found a buyer.

Boom in the Indian Automobile Market

In today's world owning a vehicle is not a privilege but an absolute necessity. There are different types of cars manufactured to cater to all sections of society. History of Mercedes Benz: The 180 Ponton

Mercedes Benz 180/190 Ponton (1953 - 1962)

In the history of Mercedes Benz, it had rarely been that difficult. Daimler-Benz had to decide on one of the most important new car designs. While the four-cylinder 170S clearly showed its age, the six-cylinder 220 was just a 170S with a larger power plant. Also the luxurious 300 Benz still carried prewar genes in its styling and chassis.

This change from more traditional thinking to modern styling proved a bit the problem Daimler-Benz management faced in those days. On the one hand, they could not afford to fall too much behind what competitors were offering, and on the other hand they knew that a too radically modern design might not be appreciated by their more traditionally minded customers. The Mercedes Benz 300 was a clear statement of how much they knew of the preferences of a larger portion of their customer base. From 1951 till 1962 the 300 had not changed dramatically in its traditional pre-war oriented design.

Just eight months before the launch of the 180, the final ponton-design was approved by Daimler-Benz management. At its unveiling in September 1953 the new form was accepted by almost all its potential clients. The new Benz had a 20% roomier passenger compartment and offered greatly increased visibility. Drivers could also pack much more luggage, as the trunk had a 75% higher volume. But the features did not stop there. Inside the cabin, heating could be individually adjusted for driver and passenger and more supportive and larger seats invited to relaxed touring. It is interesting that all of this could be accomplished on the outside dimensions of the predecessor, the 170S Benz. Also worth mentioning is that the new unit-body chassis was far stronger and twice as rigid as the old body-on-independent-frame construction.

The term did not exist in those days, but the ponton 180 could be regarded as the first E-Class Mercedes Benz. It was in the same price league as the six-cylinder Opel Kapitän, which was from an image point of view more competing with the 220 W187 Benz. At 9,950. - DM ($2,360. -) the new Mercedes Benz 180 was not cheap, but buyers did not seem to bother. This latest addition to the Benz family was not only popular at the time of its launch, it was in demand throughout its production run. And for the first time, the magic word "waiting list" was heard.

Naturally for the four-cylinder cars of Daimler-Benz, a diesel engine was made available again. The OM 636 was also taken over unchanged from the previous 170 Benz, and it still lived up to its reputation of a rather noisy, uncivilized power plant. But its sturdy and reliable design made it also capable of living longer than the vehicle it was powering. Small surprise it was so well liked by taxi car owners, who told of 300,000 or more miles on a single engine.

Also, the petrol engine was a carry-over from the previous 170S Benz. So in 1957, four years after the vehicle's introduction, the 180 received the M 121 OHC engine of the 190, but in a detuned version. The output went up from 52 hp at 4,000 rpm to 65 hp at now 4,500 rpm.

The Mercedes Benz 190 was launched in 1956. It was basically a 180 with an engine developing 75 hp at 4,600 rpm. On the outside it had next to a different badge a wide chrome rim along the lower window line. And on the inside it offered a slightly different upholstery. In August 1959, both Mercedes Benz cars were upgraded at the front with a lower and wider radiator grille.

At that time, Daimler-Benz had moved on already to the "Heckflossen-Zeit" or "fin tail era" with the introduction of the six-cylinder 220b series. In August 1961, the 190 Benz was discontinued, as the fin tail 190 series was introduced. In October 1962 the last ponton 180 finally left the production hall. Over the years the car has seen technical and cosmetic updates, but it had remained the reliable trustworthy Mercedes Benz vehicle, which had introduced nine years earlier the ponton era for Daimler-Benz.

History of Mercedes Benz: The 230SL Pagoda

The Mercedes Benz 230SL and its successors 250SL and 280SL (1963 - 1971)

As a first in the history of Mercedes Benz the car was shown to the press two weeks before it was officially introduced on March 14th 1963 at the Geneva Automobile Show. This way it was ensured that their reports were out at or before the official launch date of the car. This Benz was eagerly awaited and nobody knew, whether it would follow the mighty 300SL or the popular 190SL. It did not follow either of them. When Prof. Fritz Nallinger, chief engineer and member of the executive board, unveiled the new Mercedes Benz 230SL, internally called W 113, it created some sort of a shock. As Erich Waxenberger, talented engineer under Rudolf Uhlenhaut once remarked, the car appeared as if a tree had fallen on top of it. The roof was, well...unusual. But not only the roof created some stir, it was also the car's performance. Everybody had expected a successor to the legendary 300SL.

Daimler-Benz of course was firm in its approach to the new SL's role. It was neither a 300SL nor a 190SL. It was a high-performance touring sports car with superior handling characteristics that could transport two passengers plus their luggage in style, comfort and most of all safety. It was a Mercedes Benz very much on its own. In order to prove the sports-aspect, Rudolf Uhlenhaut, always available for a quick blast around a race course, pushed the 230SL around a 1.5 km round circuit near Montreux in the presence of the press. It was most impressive that the British Grand Prix driver Mike Parkes was not able to drive much faster. His car wasn't the SL though, his car was a Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta!

Although many of the car's technical features weren't new at all, it was the combination and their improvements that made this Benz special. The running gear had recirculating ball steering and a dual-circuit brake system. Girling disc brakes were fitted to the front axle, while vacuum assisted Alfin drums were fitted to the rear. For the first time in the history of Mercedes Benz such a car could be ordered with power steering and most shocking for most European journalists: automatic transmission. A sports car and automatic transmission? Absolutely impossible! It wasn't only the press who thought that way, it was the same with most of the European public. No wonder, very few such cars were sold in Europe. The Americans were already a step ahead, for them the combination sports car and automatic transmission made a lot of sense. And as Daimler-Benz thought of selling some 80 percent of the car abroad, this extra was certainly beneficial. The Benz came standard with a four-speed manual with 3.75:1 gear ratio. It was similar to the one used in the 220SE but with a shorter first gear ratio of 4.42:1 instead of 3.64:1. It should ensure faster acceleration, but wasn't universally appreciated, so in 1965 the manual transmission of the new 250S/SE was adopted.

In 1967, two years after the launch of the 250 sedan series, the 230SL was replaced by the 250SL. Its bigger engine reduced the somewhat lackluster performance at low revolutions. Unfortunately it suffered from reliability problems at high speeds, not something a sports car driver was too amused to hear. Although this issue was quickly dealt with, the car was also famous for its relatively high fuel consumption. After only one year, it was replaced by the bigger and smother 2.8 l engine. It offered 170 hp at 5,750 rpm compared to the previous 150 hp at 5,500 rpm, it also had slightly more torque and an improved fuel economy.

While the 250SL Benz cost at 22,800.- DM ($5,700.-) almost the same as the 230SL, the 280SL was 1,500.- DM ($375.-) more expensive. In the US the 280SL cost around $7,500.-, depending on the extras. Customers didn't mind though, they loved the package and came running. In its five years the Mercedes Benz 280SL managed to sell 23,885 units, more than half of them went to North America. The 230SL sold over the same period 19,813 units.

Modern Hot Rods: Build on a Budget!

I have been asked this question a lot and have seen it asked a lot as well. What are the modern Hot Rods? What cars can be considered the Modern Hot Rods? Usually when this question is asked either someone says that there are no modern Hot Rods that Hot Rods are a 65 and older thing, or someone will say that the Imports are the new Hot Rods or the lower riders or the brand new mustang is. Really however, none of these are the Modern Hot Rods.

You are probably asking yourself "What are the modern Hot Rods?" Well before I get to which cars could actually be considered the modern I want to go over how I determined which cars are the modern Hot Rods.

First thing is Cost: The cost to buy the car and cost of parts.

Second Thing is Mods: What mods are available and how common parts are.

Most of these cars are getting close to 30 years old, kind of like the 32 Fords in the 60s. Most of these cars stock only have around 200 HP but a lot can be done to them for cheap.

Ford F-150, 1980-1986 Cost: $800-$2000

A highly over looked car that can be made into a Hot Rod. These cars are usually just thought of as more of a basic cheap truck or a rednecks toy to go mudding with. However these cars will most likely contain either a 302W or a 351W that parts are easy to find (jegs or summit racing) ad can be built to make some serious power!

Ford Bronco, 1980-1986 Cost: $800-$3000

This Full Size SUV is easy to find and can be found for super cheap. Usually more thought of as a Mud Bogger or a car to make into a Monster Truck. These Ford can be cheaply made into a great Hot Rod. Though it only has about 210 Horsepower stock these trucks will come with a 302W, a 351W or a 351M (the 351Ms aka the Cleveland's are rare though) so they can be made to have some serious power!

Dodge Mirada, 1980-1983, Cost: $500-$2000

The Forgotten Mopar from the early 80s. This was a short lived car at a time when MOPAR was having Financial Troubles (kind of like... we heard all of the Mopar economy jokes) and it was suppose to be a luxury car. However it did not sell as well as the Monte Carlo or Thunderbird and the car has become forgotten over the years...which is great! It's great because I have seen ones that run go for around $700, and these cars come with a 318 stock but you can swap in a 340 or a 360 LA for some series power!

Dodge Aspen, 1976-1980 Cost: $900-$3000

Mopar's late 70s compact/ mid size car. The car did win car of the year for 1976 (though that didn't help the value today) and these cars can be found for dirt cheap in good condition. The Aspen was meant to be a low powered Sport Coupe or an affordable family Sedan; the car even had an R/T package to it. Most Aspens will have the 318 in them but you can get the R/Ts with the 360. You can also find a used 360 for cheap to swap in if you don't like the 318.

Chevy Caprice, 1977-1990 Cost: $2000-$4000

Another over looked car which can be made into a great Hot Rod. The Caprice is usually more seen as a low-rider or a car with big rims but these cars are great platforms for Hot Rods. The 77-79 Models came with the famous Small Block Chevy 350, though only stock rated at 170 HP it can be modified like any other 350 for series horsepower. The later models came with the Chevy 305 which can be built up for power as well but you can also found a used 350 for cheap and swap that into the Caprice.

Chevy Malibu, 1978-1983 Cost: $2000-$4000

Usually thought of as an ugly early 80s car, sometimes even considered a Guido car. The Malibu has actually in the past few years become more popular among drag racers! Mainly do to its straight axle rear wheel drive set up, and you can easily fit in a 350 or something bigger such as a 427 or 454.

Chevy Monte Carlo, 1978-1988 Cost: $2000- $4500

One of the cars from its era that has performance that wasn't the Trans Am, Camaro, or the Mustang. The Monte Carlo is easy to find, it's a bit pricier than the other cars on the list but if you have the money it's worth it! Most Monte Carlos will have either a V6 or the 305 in it, however some actually have a diesel V8. If you don't know anything about diesels I recommend going with a V6 or 305 Carlo than getting a used 350 to swap into it. They can make great drag cars or if you are more into pro-touring they can be pro-touring as well.

Chevy S10, 1985-1993 Cost: $700-$3000

The small compact Pick Up Truck from Chevy. These trucks are a great example of a modern day hot rod, it the 85 through 98 models come stock with a 4.3l (262) V6 which is basically a Chevy 350 missing Cylinders 3 and 6! Performance parts for your 350 such as pistons, rockers, values, and the Edelbrock performer manifold will work on the 4.3l engine. However if you want something with more power you can of course do the 350 swap but others have done 427s and even 454s into this truck. Even though this truck is cheap and not thought of as a Hot Rod by most, there has been Pro Mod S10s! Making this one of the best Hot Rods!

Even though many people don't know about it or don't believe there is, there are more than a few platforms to build a modern Hot Rod and do it on a cheap budget! All of these cars are commonly found on craigslist, and in other used car adds, mods are cheap and parts are affordable and easy to find!

The older they get it seems the more popular they become. The history of the motor car is an amazing story and every vehicle of the type described is without an age when it comes to the love and devotions owners attach to it.

The colours, styles, smell and fun enjoyed in riding in them went a long way to ensuring that someone would always be as passionate for them now as the first owners were when they came from the show room. The quality of the seats, the timber-framed dashboard and the often peculiar windows added to the romance and mystique of their day.

There was a running board on the side on which passengers could stand when entering or leaving as the vehicle was often much higher on the road than we are used to today. The bumper bars were just that, solid pieces of equipment that allowed you to bounce off anything you accidentally hit, such as the vehicle in front or behind when parking. They comprised chrome and rubber and were a statement in themselves.

The headlights were larger and often sat between the mud-guards and the bonnet like 2 eyes patrolling the view in front as you drove along. The former were always separate from the engine compartment and when bright young kids wanted to be different they could be stripped off and the old jallopies they enjoyed had a certain element of the dare-devil look about them.

Some vehicles were like tanks to drive because of the steel in the body work. Doors were huge and the top was often of a material or fabric to compensate for the weight below. As the car aged holes could appear in it and stripping the top off was another feature of many a run about driven by teens.

The wheels were huge as well and a spare wheel could be suspended on the side of the vehicle near the driver. The tyre on the other hand was narrow and contained a rubber tube which held the air that pumped them up. Punctures were common and the inner tube had to be removed and repaired and then replaced. That necessitated carrying a spare at all times for a quick change.

Roads were unreliable and often just dirt tracks which is possibly responsible for the height from the road to the floor of the car. Sitting in one today feels strange after all the modern innovations that have vehicles of far less weight, height and reliability than the great classics of yesteryear. Is it any wonder then that enthusiasts still return to days of old to recapture the romance and excitement of that era.

There is enough enthusiam today to bring back the old classics as this site demonstrates
